Stardew Valley 1.7 Update Could Be Its Biggest Release Yet in 2027

Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone has revealed that the upcoming Stardew Valley update could become the largest expansion the game has received so far, with its launch currently expected sometime in 2027. He shared the news during a live appearance at the Stardew Valley Symphony of Seasons concert at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado. A fan attending the event recorded his comments, which were subsequently reported by [GamesRadar+].

“We’re working on the 1.7 update, which is looking to be the largest Stardew Valley update ever,” Barone said during the event. “It’s jam-packed. Clint and Sandy are just the tip of the iceberg, there’s so much more in the update.”

A Decade of Updates, With an Even Bigger Release on the Way

Stardew Valley made its debut on February 26, 2016, and its creator has continued supporting and improving the farming simulation game for years. Previous major releases, particularly updates 1.5 and 1.6, introduced substantial additions, including new areas, seasonal festivals and other gameplay features. However, Barone's latest comments suggest that version 1.7 could surpass both releases in terms of overall content. Previously announced features, such as the possibility of developing romantic relationships with Clint and Sandy and the introduction of another farm layout, now appear to represent only a small portion of the planned additions.

Barone initially confirmed that development on Stardew Valley 1.7 was underway in August 2025. This announcement came after many fans believed version 1.6 would serve as the game's final major update. Alongside his continued work on Stardew Valley, Barone is also creating another project called Haunted Chocolatier. He has previously acknowledged that the development process for the upcoming game has been taking considerably longer than expected.

No Confirmed Release Date Beyond 2027

“You guys are in for a real treat, and it’ll probably come out some time next year,” Barone told the audience during the concert.

For now, 2027 is the only approximate release timeframe provided by the developer. Barone has not revealed a specific launch month or season for Stardew Valley 1.7. Furthermore, the complete list of upcoming features remains undisclosed, with the new farm type and additional romance options for Clint and Sandy being the only major additions publicly discussed so far.
